    Programme aims:
Development of the programme is underpinned by the following core concepts:
    • To provide a broad, analytical and highly integrated study of business organisations (profit and non-profit), their marketing function and the changing external environment and society in which they operate. This can be characterised from three perspectives:
      • Marketing – the discipline area of marketing will be explored through specialist modules designed to produce an effective marketing professional. The various elements of marketing theory will be explored, and the student will be critically examined using various teaching methodologies. The broad themes of Strategy, Research and Focus on the Customer will underpin the flow of modules.
      • Business Organisations (profit and non-profit) - encompassing the internal aspects, functions and processes of organisations including their diverse purposes and structures. This will marry together with the individual and corporate behaviours and cultures which exist within and between organisations and their influence upon the external environment.
      • External environment – which encompasses a wide range of factors, including economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technological, together with their effects at local, national and international levels upon business and marketing strategy, staff and consumer behaviour, management and sustainability of organisations.
    • 'Preparation for business' by developing of a range of specific business knowledge and professional competences relevant to graduate careers in business and marketing, with the potential for further marketing management positions.
    • Enhancement of lifelong learning skills including personal development to contribute to civic society at large. Lifelong learning skills include the development and enhancement of a range of general transferable learning, intellectual and professional skills, which, while being highly appropriate to a career in business and marketing, are not restricted to this. This includes the encouragement of improved self-awareness, leadership vision, positive and critical attitudes towards enterprise, change and society in general.
