Scholarships at Letterkenny Institute of Technology

Welcome to the Scholarships section of the LYIT website. 

We offer five different types of Scholarships – three for new entrants and two for existing students of the Institute.  Find out more about each below.

These three Scholarships are available to new entrants to the Institute:

REACH Scholarships

LYIT has established a Bursary Scheme (REACH) to support and facilitate students wishing to complete an undergraduate programme in the academic year 2016/2017.  REACH is targeting students who might not progress onto third level due to having a disability or lacking the financial wherewithal to participate.  For more information click on REACH Bursary Scheme Guidelines for Applicants and REACH Bursary Scheme Application Form

New Entrant Sports Scholarships

Provided you are accepted onto a full –time course of study in LYIT, either as undergraduate or post graduate, and are currently a member of a GAA County Football or Hurling panel, or a member of a League of Ireland soccer panel, you are eligible to apply for a New Entrant Sports Scholarship. Pushing Boundaries Scholarships

This scholarship initiative is specifically aimed at applicants interested in applying for Full-time Taught Postgraduate Masters.  For more information on eligibility criteria and programmes, click here

These two Scholarships programmes available to existing students:

1. Full-Time Sports Scholarship

The scholarship is based on the applicant’s dedication to training and games in the Institute, and also on their academic progress. Application forms for clubs and societies scholarships are available internally, within the institute, in February of each academic year.

2. Clubs and Societies Scholarships

This scholarship is aimed at existing students who are actively involved in the clubs and societies programme at the Institute and who have excelled in the areas of volunteering, civic engagement and leadership.  Application forms for clubs and societies scholarships are available internally, within the Institute, in February of each academic year.
